Ethics and Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education: for a Development responsible for AI with and beyond the Montreal Declaration

The project “Ethics and artificial intelligence in higher education: for the responsible development of AI with and beyond the Montreal Declaration” was selected by the PIA (Pôle montréalais d’enseignement supérieur en intelligence artificielle) to adapt and develop the training offer in any field related to AI and its ethical and social issues in the Montreal region. This is a collaboration between Algora Lab, Collège Rosemont and the Université de Montréal.
The project offers a modular inter-college-university training on ethical and social issues related to AI. More specifically, the project is inspired by the deliberative and inclusive process that led to the Montreal Declaration for the Responsible Development of Artificial Intelligence in order to equip students and teachers at the Université de Montréal and Collège Rosemont to face the challenges related to the use of AI and, ultimately, to initiate actions in their communities.
This is a two-year project (2020-2021) during which students from Collège Rosemont and the Université de Montréal will acquire a number of skills related to AI ethics (thematic weeks, toolkits, conferences, deliberative workshops…).
